"To be safe, loved, or successful, I must suppress who I am and become what they need"

In Childhood: You traded your Voice for Safety. You learned that to be loved, you had to be "easy" or "likable." Your natural assertiveness was labeled as being "bossy," "aggressive," or “dominating,” so you learned to dim your light.
In School: You learned that Success = Following the Rules. You were trained to trust external metrics (The Gold Star) more than your own gut and to wait for permission to advance.

Survival Strategy: To stay safe in the room, you now use Fawning (pleasing/agreeing) and Shrinking (dimming your presence) as your primary operating modes.Fawning is a human response (often called the "Good Soldier" role) where you over-produce/agree and people-please to manage other people's emotions and expectations.
Shrinking is a human response where you physically and metaphorically take up less space to avoid being "too much" or being "found out". It is the act of dimming your presence.
